What is the ISA allowance for 2025/26?
The annual ISA allowance for 2025/26 is £20,000 per person. This can be split across multiple ISA types. The Lifetime ISA has a separate £4,000 sub-limit. Unused allowance is lost on 5 April each year.
Can I have multiple ISAs?
Since April 2024, you can hold multiple ISAs of the same type in a single tax year. Total subscriptions across all ISAs must not exceed £20,000.
What happens if I exceed my ISA allowance?
HMRC will contact you and require the excess to be removed. Any interest or gains on the excess may be taxable. Most providers have controls to prevent over-subscription.
